Review of Red Cliff (2008) by Dean P — 22 Jun 2010
This is the condensed theatrical release of the international version, which consists of Parts 1 and 2 on separate discs. A detailed, exciting, epic, grandiose, based-on-true-events story of the immensely outnumbered good triumphing over the bad.
The elements of patience, intelligence, strategy, courage, persistence, and sacrifice combined were all highlighted as crucial to winning when it seemed an impossibility. I was lucky to have been in the midst of Sun-Tzu's "The Art of War" when I watched this, which made me attain a special appreciation for both this film and the book, as the characters quoted and carried out Sun-Tzu's advice.
