Review of Red (2002) by Paul N — 23 Feb 2014
This movie is all sorts of awesome! It's like the Expendables, except without all the cheesiness, mindless action, and cliche ridden plot! Using wit, humor, and thrilling action, Red rises above many other high budget action movies.
The real strength of this movie lies with its characters, played by Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, and God himself, Morgan Freeman. These four play the roles of retired badasses, who fight to uncover a plot to assassinate a select group of people, who took part in a past covert operation.
My personal favorite is Malkovich, who nails his character's sheer insanity and humor perfectly, though the whole cast does a great job. It's honestly like a Bourne movie, except with more comedy.
That ain't a bad thing!
