Review of [REC] (2007) by Miguel P — 09 Sep 2010
[REC] is a Spaniard shaky camera horror film that is gruesomely very good and it inspired an American remake titled Quarantine. Although the remake doesn?t really follow the originals plot a 100%.
If you have seen the remake you seen this one, the remake is shot by shot and makes me want to praise it more for being more faithful to the original. A TV host that interviews people who work late jobs is interviewing firefighters. After a boring couple of hours they get a call to a building where a woman is screaming and acting crazy and that?s where all the fun happens. They get trapped in the building with a deadly virus spreading and they need to figure out how to get out and why the police are locking them inside.
My first mistake was to watch the remake first and not see this one first. The original is the same exact same thing as the remake. So I have the same feelings for it like Quarantine. I do think its better acted and the remake drop the original origin of the virus. The remake had a form of rabies, while the original was a virus that gave the same symptoms as demonic possession. In my opinion the differences between these movies is the language and that the original has a tighter plot. It?s bloody, scary and it has enough chills and thrills for the night.
A better horror film then most of what?s out there.
MP **** 4/5.
