Review of [REC] (2007) by Hamid H — 03 Dec 2010
4 - Genuinely scary horror and probably one of the most impactful zombie movies out there. Done in documentary style, a TV crew is unwittingly trapped with firemen and police inside a tenement building where an outbreak is taking place.
The film starts off a little slowly, but once it gets stuck into the horror and the leads begin to lose control of the situation, the tense pace never lets up. In fact it only becomes more and more tense.
All actors commit fully to their performances and appear natural. Main criticisms: extremely shaky camera work is a little annoying at times; the ending fails to rise above what is routine in horror movies.
