Review of [REC] (2007) by Charlie D — 26 Jun 2012

One of the best, most genuinely terrifying horror movies of the last ten years. It takes a basic, claustrophobic concept and expands upon it in ways you can't imagine, while keeping the tension constant and the scares intense. It builds up to one of the most goddamn scary climaxes I've ever witnessed and makes you forget how overplayed the entire found-footage genre has become. There are occasionally problems with the acting (certain extras aren't all that convincing), but you can gloss over them with hardly any notice. If you love a good horror movie, you can't miss [Rec].

Just don't watch the shitty remake, Quarantine.
