Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Jedrik E — 24 Sep 2009
This film was very different than what I had previously anticipated. The film tells the story of a young many trying to find his way. I found that the director was able to create suspense even without very flashy action sequences.
I think that was because the sound/music was used really well to enhance and hone the feeling of the images themselves. It had some interesting camera angles and at times quintessential 50's lighting.
I think the lighting helped to serve the shot locations and the sets very well, despite the fact that it inherently dates the film. James Dean himself is a fantastic lead and I found his acting style similar to Johnny Depp.
Overall a good flick: worth a watch.
