Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Ryan L — 04 Mar 2010
Iconic, but is hurt a bit by the fact that it's hard to truly feel for any of the main characters. They're all so weak and make poor decisions, and then attempt to blame it on their parents. Maybe it's a generational thing I'm missing out on, as this does seem to have some subliminal messages about the stifling social mores of the 50s.
There is a flip side to that, as it also kind of makes you feel like the kids are stupid and reckless. I guess that's why the title works. Still, it's an interesting tale and the look they take into the head of Plato is cool.
