Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Corey N — 27 Apr 2010
This was a movie that I wanted to watch for a long time. My first James Dean movie I have ever watched. Overall I expected something more at the end of this. We watch Dean's character as a teenager in the 50's who rebels against his parents and society.
He wants answers but finds no one who can give them to him. He ends up making friends who a young teenage girl and another boy who has problems of his own. I get the whole thing with teenagers wanting to be independent and wanting answers about life.
But at times it seems Dean's character was just very whiny about his life and the way his parents raised him. I will admit that James Dean was a very good actor in this. But the story was average overall.
Sure it most likely was ground breaking at time of release but it was just a okay film to me. Worth maybe at least a one time watch.
