Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Paul Z — 26 Apr 2012
Here is a visually electric, intensely acted, if also very far-fetched melodrama of frustrated youth in a cycle of thrill-seeking and one-upmanship. But like its hero, Rebel Without a Cause urgently wants to say something and doesn't know what it is.
Still, Nicholas Ray's agitative film toasts an iconic epitaph for talented stars James Dean, Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo.
