Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Spyros T — 12 Sep 2012
This film has not aged well. Not that I thought it was horrible or anything. It just was sort of strange to me and maybe it was just a product of the times it came from. Being that I wasn't a teen in the 50s, I guess it sort of wasn't speaking to me directly when it came down to the teenage alienation but I just didn't get what was amazing about the film as a whole.
Also I never got what was so great about James Dean's acting personally. His big "acting" scene in this film comes off as painful overacting to me. The famous "You're tearing me apart" line is cringe-worthy.
