Review of Rebel Without a Cause (1955) by Adam S — 27 Nov 2012
I have a healthy respect for the old classics of the 50's era. I mean, what kind of film buff doesn't? Without the James Deans, Audrey Hepburns and Marylin Monroes, modern movies would be vastly different.
But it doesn't mean I think they've aged particularly well. "Rebel Without A Cause", hasn't exactly stood the test of time. Oh it's a fine movie, and you'd have to be blind Freddy to see that this was one a spectacular masterpiece.
But by the same token, it is definitely of it's time, and its hard to call it a masterpiece now. Just a very good movie. And one which features the Chief of CONTROL... can't go past that!
