Review of Rear Window (1954) by Shane L — 29 May 2013
This movie has to be the most perfectly assembled picture in history. Things really came together to make a once in a lifetime experience when the screen's most compatible cast worked with the camera's most ingenious filmmaker.
From the start, the film immobilizes you and miraculously fixes your eyes to the screen. The real innovation here is the deliciously audience-inclusive set design that is yet unsurpassed. This movie puts you into a brilliant little house party with Grace Kelly, Thelma Ritter and Jimmy Stewart that goes horribly awry when the apartment across the street possesses hauntingly inaccessible secrets.
Though I have many favorite movies, this one always shines through as the single best film ever made.
