I am 31 years old and I caught myself clapping at one point. I love all sorts of movies and I believe they are meant to allow us to suspend reality for 2 hours. I think our opinions on movies also depend on where we are at in our personal lives at the time we see it.
I was looking to relax with a movie about boxing robots and I achieved that. Real Steel is pure entertainment. It will really surprise you and leave you smiling and feeling like a kid again.
