Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Alex R — 14 Apr 2018
I've had a bit of a whirlwind with this movie. After initially seeing it, I liked it, didn't love it. Then after thinking about it for a few days I was thinking that I didn't like it. As a book reader I thought it left out some of the magic that made the book so great.
But then I thought to myself that I needed to try to judge the film separately from the book. After seeing it 2 more times, I have decided that this book falls somewhere between like and love. In my opinion this goes back to some of Spielberg's original magic, a fun story focusing on a group of young people.
Influences of Willy Wonka, ET, Back to the Future, and hundreds of other films that you cannot possibly point out on your first viewing.
