Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Existentialman — 28 Mar 2018
I enjoyed reading the Ready Player One novel and listening to the audio book. Unfortunately the movie was a huge disappointment. The tone of movie is inconsistent, sometimes it's very real and at other times it's completely contrived and fairy tale.
In the end it seems like it was targeted for 12 year olds. Some of the scenes work and others fall flat. The humor never really connects and feels forced. It doesn't feel like an adaptation of the novel, instead it feels like an adaption of a video game based on the novel.
