Review of Ready Player One (2018) by Thesodomizer — 29 Jul 2018
Spielberg's Ready Player One is unlike the novel. Things are constantly added and subtracted making Ready Player One feel fresh to the book fans.

The best part about Ready Player one are the masterfully choreographed action scenes in classic Spielberg fashion. The technical mastery does satisfy but the characterization is mostly weak. That being said both Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke deliver but Ben Mendelsohn is the star of the show.Alan Silvestri's musical score is some of his best work and it definitely adds up to the film.
A big downside to Ready Player One is the heavy reliance on pop culture references. More or less the movie relies you to understand this reference or that wew scenes. Another big downside is the poor storytelling which doesn't feel like Spielberg at all. The narrative is just to sloppy to be good and there is just not enough story behind it.
