Review of Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) by Piglordofallham — 08 Mar 2021
-Too formulaic.
-I just watched Moana.
-Boring exposition fills up five minutes that could've been explained in a million other ways -Unfunny side-characters (except Tong) -Confusing and repetitive message about unity reiterated constantly-Too formulaic.

-Boring exposition fills up five minutes that could've been explained in a million other ways.
-Unfunny side-characters (except Tong).
-Confusing and repetitive message about unity reiterated constantly.
-Confusing and repetitive message about trust over hate reiterated constantly.
-Its dragon magic I ain't gotta 'splain- -Terrible voice acting.
-Tugs on heart strings all over the place with no character development to back those moments up.
-Visually beautiful, but artistically bankrupt.
-Reeks of design by committee decisions.
-Promotes representation and multiculturalism, but can't help but tell a very obvious, thinly-veiled, "Tower of Babel" story rather than an original "southeast asian" one.
-The actual plot is very dull and some of the dialogue is just plain stupid.
-Main antagonists are giant shadow creatures that transform people into STONE, never mind all that, we don't really learn much about them or why they even exist aside from a throwaway line, instead we get a short-haired lesbian girlfriend tiff from Raya's youth become the main catalyst for our silly overdrawn climax.
-Who is Raya? We get no real sense of her character or what she's doing or why she is the way she is.
