Review of Raw (2017) by Dustin S — 09 Aug 2017
Not for the faint of heart! However, for those who can handle genuine body horror, this film gets it right.
Incredibly well acted by Marillier, and directed by Julie Ducournau, this film does not let up. Be warned. What happens with the animals is hard to take but the film has interesting things to say about the role of bodies and repression, not just in France but all over the world.
The camerawork is well done. Both the editing and cinematography are able to balance the sensuality of the film against the more explicit horror and fear.
