Review of Ravenous (1999) by Kleo K — 10 Aug 2009
Disappointing. While it has some outlandish characters and a truly bizarre score involving Damon Albarn, this movie's ponderous, slow pace and dull plotting prevents it from being the sticky, darkly comic gore-bonanza it clearly wants to be.
This movie really had potential to be an original cannibal movie, but the plot feels like a first draft with story turns that aren't as interesting as they could have been and the promising characters aren't given enough to do.
There are some good nasty bits in it that make it go down easier, but it's not one I can say I recommend.
