Review of Ravenous (1999) by Ryan J — 01 Apr 2010
How do you describe this one? 1840s America, hopelessness, Native American mythology, civil war drop-outs, bad weather, and cannibalism. This one truly 'creeps' and makes the 'flesh crawl'.
Gory films aren't hard to come by, but ones that terrify without resorting to pseudo-snuff are nice examples of the horror craft. The highly original soundtrack is all instrumental and makes use of instruments that one would imagine were available during that historical period.
No sequel required.
