Review of Rat Race (2001) by Blind P — 08 Feb 2009
Rat Race reminds me of why I wince every time a picture is classified as "comedy". While not quite as awful as the worst film genre in history, the romantic comedy, most general comedies rely on sight gags and coincidence that rely on little wit and evoke an imagined canned laugh track as they deliver their "hilarious moments". Even though I'd say the cast here struggle mightily to pull it off, in the end it's just another dumb-ass snooze-fest of dubious entertainment value.
I laughed only at the scenes where Cleese and his charges are finding new things to gamble on. These count for about 4 moments in the movie, and none to make a sound over.
