Review of Rashomon (1950) by Myles H — 16 Feb 2009
A must-see for any self-proclaimed film buff, this fascinatingly well made feature chronicles the attempts of several people in 1800s Japan to piece together the death of a samurai. The death is recounted by a passerby woodcutter, a notorious bandit, the man's wife, and the victim himself through a medium.
Trying to nail down exactly what happened is a great way to go insane, so perhaps the film works better as an examination of human morality and the shades of gray between good and evil.
