Review of Rashomon (1950) by Joe L — 18 Jun 2009
I heard about it for years, so much so that I felt I knew it before I had even watched it. as a fan of 'lost,' I heard reference to it many times, which further reinforced my belief that I 'knew what it was about.
' so what joy to view it and realize I knew nothing at all. this is not a film about how perception differs from person to person, as many would have you believe. this is a film about how the truth is unknowable; we each will have our own, and no one is objective.
staged with the skill of an epic peter brook play.
