Review of Rashomon (1950) by Hans G — 08 Jul 2009
While Hollywood filmmakers were still stuck in studios and backlots, Kurosawa takes the camera into the woods and shoots it guerrilla style - in 1950! Although the story isn't exactly edge-of-your-seat exciting, it is extremely important to film as it shows a story which at that time had never been shown: from several different perspectives.
It is extremely interestingly directed! (My first Kurosawa...more to come). Toshiro Mifune is great as the bandit. A classic indeed!
