Review of Rashomon (1950) by Shane W — 18 Dec 2009
Rashomon, what can you say? That's the whole idea right? Perspectives. Akira Kurosawa at his very best, it introduced Eastern cinema to the Western world. The acting is wonderful, you've got to realize that each actor had to play the same character 3 different ways! The cinematography is amazing, the sun blazing in the Samurai Wife's eyes but none of us can look away.
And in the end, through all the cynicism, Kurosawa's humanism is passed to us.
