Review of Rashomon (1950) by Morten Ø — 06 Nov 2010
I'm not sure whether this is the first movie to view the same episode from different point of views. Nevertheless, it's pretty god-damn-brilliant. Kurosawa has made a huge masterpiece with this movie. Mifune is awesome as always, and even though the whole movie is based on flashbacks and flashforwards it is so neatly strutured and easy to navigate through.
The reason of telling a story like this is to show man's weaknesses and selfishness. Good or bad, everyone has their own reasons for lying and not telling the truth.
