Review of Rashomon (1950) by Cody P — 21 Jan 2011
A revolutionary and original film, "Rashomon" is a landmark in filmmaking and is the first popular Asian film in the Western world. The film is a stunning visual piece for its time, employing camera techniques, beautiful on location scenery and amazing lighting to create a look and feel entirely unique in its time.
The story telling technique is still unique to this day, showing four sides of one story and leaving the audience to decide what the truth is. "Rashomon" is a fascinating film to watch and even more amazing to watch when considering the that no one else was doing what Akira Kurosawa was during this time.
