Review of Rashomon (1950) by Ryan K — 17 Aug 2012
This was a film that was great mostly because of its groundbreaking style that set the precedence for many others. Now the film has not aged exceptionally well. It is still very watchable and enjoyable (especially the sword fight).
I expected this film to be a murder mystery with lots of twists and turns. It had some of that but it was mostly about the human spirit and coming to terms with a fallen world. On that level it was very insightful and moving.
