Review of Rashomon (1950) by Jonathan P — 06 Jul 2013
Rashomon is a beautiful piece of cinema history that does everything right but at the same time can be rather dull. Kurosawa is a master of the craft.. Seven Samurai may be one of the greatest films ever made but with Rashomon Kurosawa's pacing was slow and his actors tended to overact to cheesy proportions.
I am by no means saying Rashomon was a bad film as it was as original and thought provoking then as it is now but it wasn't as tidy and neat as other Kurosawa films.
