Review of Rashomon (1950) by Carlos I — 16 Apr 2015

I like the order of the film. We see four people tell their own perspective on a tragic event, like a detective interviewing witnesses to collaborate their stories to solve a crime. It makes you appreciate how hard it must be to find the truth when everything is so subjective.

It's a film about the philosophy of truth, reality and human nature. The film looks great. The cinematography is so marvelous words can't do it justice. There's so much masterful work going on behind the camera lens.

Every event is given it's own visual treatment. The cast is also great. It's impressive watching the actors film the same scene four times in different ways. And the medium was a nice touch. A little fantasy in the story compliments the magical aesthetic.
