Review of Rango (2011) by Michael Z — 13 Jan 2014
The film begins with promise, and its "talking animals in the old west" paradigm is uniquely rendered. However, Logan's screenplay grows increasingly hollow as the film wears on, its classic movie references ceasing to be charming after about 9000 of them come to use. By the end, I wished I was just watching Chinatown, a film this animated adventure too often (and too overtly) aspires to duplicate.
*1.5/4*.
