Review of Ran (1985) by Null N — 02 May 2008
Closer to a Western blockbuster than any of Kurosawa's previous black and white epics, Kurosawa is a very different masterpiece. Again, like Throne of Blood, I've never sat through a telling of King Lear, so this was an entirely new experience.
The pacing slow, but the cinematography impressive in places, Kurosawa creates a new kind of work, but one that's not as atmospheric or inspirational as his previous films.
