Review of Ran (1985) by Alex V — 25 Aug 2008
The first Kurosawa movie I've seen in color, and now I really wish he stuck around to do more. Absolutely jaw-dropping in every sense of the word. Every single scene is picturesque in the best ways.
The story is a beautifully-developed adaptation of Shakespeare's "King Lear". I'm just flabbergasted right now, honestly, and there is no way I can stop singing this movie's praises at this point.
Probably second to Seven Samurai for me as best Kurosawa...most likely a top 10 entry, as well.
