Easily akin to similarly masterful films like Ben Hur and Spartacus, Ran is both a heavily compelling drama and strikingly entertaining war story. Tatsuya Nakadai's haunting portrayal of Lord Hidetora is just one of many hallmark performances, all framed within the broad-stroke genius of Akira Kurosawa.
Colorful and majestic, yet dark and brutal; one of the all-time greats.
