This masterful adaptation of Shakespear's "King Lear" sees the viewer witness the violent denouement of a blood soaked empire, and the result is a stunning and affecting samurai epic. Technically flawless, and featuring a magnificent Toru Takemitsu score, Ran is testament to Kurosawa's abilities and of one the greatest achievements in film.
