Review of Ran (1985) by Ben C — 28 Mar 2016
An emotional, colourful and tragic reimagining of King Lear, Akira Kurosawa's supposedly last epic is one of his greatest. With a great use of colour (especially red), direction as if it was gifted from the gods, and a believable performance from the main actor Tatsuya Nakadai - playing a character that has drifted apart from the world mentally, this film has to be a must see for fans of war films, period films, and even if you're a fan of AK's work.
