Review of Rampage (2018) by Omar L — 22 Apr 2018
A primatologist who just happens to have military training is basically the only type of character who could survive a movie with giant mutated animals climbing the Willis Tower. Dwayne Johnson brings his usual larger-than-life presence to a movie that is just meta enough to have a Rampage arcade game in an early background shot.
Apart from the impressive visual effects, the only other memorable character is Jeffrey Dean Morgan's secret agent Harvey Russell, whose performance just screams "evil and ignorant G-Man," but whose characterization neatly subverts all expectations.
