Review of Rampage (2018) by Supersandero — 12 Apr 2018
I can't believe I loved this movie so much. It's just nonstop crowdpleasing over-the-top entertainment. I was also pleasantly surprised by the action scenes. Instead of the headache-inducing shaky cam/quick cuts approach of for example Michael Bay, Brad Peyton uses a lot of longer takes with clear action.
One destruction scene in particular was incredibly impressive. Many scenes filled me with a dumb kid-like excitement I haven't felt in a long time in a cinema. CGI was excellent, the Rock rocks, George is awesome, Negan is hilariously great, and the score actually elevated the chaotic action.
This movie is full of great moments. Sure, the script is pretty bad and tonally inconsistent, but I had an absolute blast watching this.
