Review of Rampage (2018) by Brendan N — 15 Sep 2018
I was a fan of the video game that this film was based on but this is not the same as the game. George by be the only true link to the game and this film attempts to be something more, but ultimately fails on delivering the quality.
The cast is quite good, Johnson brings the usual charm and wit but the villains are undercooked and leave you with an empty plot holes. The key to this film is the carnage at the end, this is where the film comes together and for this I feel the film pays off.
The film deserved a better plot, they could have done the video game justice by keeping the people turning into these creatures storyline. Ralph and Lizzie are not provided any justice and are left as empty creatures.
Most people won't know this is a video game adaption considering the age of the property, so if you like mindless action that is passable, this is your film. This is harmless and services the action genre, but it needed better structure as the characters don't tend to match the inconsistent tone of the film.
