Review of Ramona and Beezus (2010) by Anthony H — 26 Nov 2010

Sweet, sentimental, and heartfelt are the words that best sum up this truly moving film. Ramona and Beezus is a film that is able to grasp our emotions and take us on an earnest little family drama. The script is strong, the characters are perfectly developed, and the cast is pitch-perfect.

Most importantly, Selena Gomez and Joey King as sisters is the most remarkable achievement. These two brilliant young actresses set this fairly above average film to soaring heights. The chemistry between these two "sisters" makes it seem as if they were sisters in real life.

They bring the script to life, and are able to reel us in on this sincere and meaningful journey. The story really hits home for many of us. We can relate to the following: either being the older sibling that was always bothered by our younger sibling or the younger sibling who always was getting into trouble, lost a beloved pet at one point, over-herd our parents arguing, financial issues, wanting to run away from home, ect.

The themes and times in life are timeless and every child undergoes most of these circumstances. It was a film that many could relate to and it left a huge impact. Ramona and Beezus, surprisingly tugged at my heartstrings and even moved me to tears a few times.

The film takes on many dark and sad issues in life, but in the end produces a cute, undeniable, unmissable, touching, and very well-acted family film that will be enjoyed by all ages! (A- Must See!).
