Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by Rajneel S — 22 Oct 2008
Naive, Vietnam-haunted, reactionary flag-waver of a film is remarkable for its ambiguous combination of American patriotism and American criticism. Easily the most iconic of the "Rambo" franchise, the film is hugely underwhelming thanks its lower-than-expected production values and and lifeless photography, but Stallone holds his own - supported by some rousing music and HUGE explosions.
James Cameron co-wrote the screenplay and is responsible for some of the film's very ambitious and exciting action sequences (like the explosive-tipped bow-and-arrow), but newbies beware this sequel is nothing much more than a badly dated, and somewhat cheesy, macho fantasy that doesn't hold a candle to the original "First Blood".
