Review of Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) by Will D — 05 Mar 2010
I don't understand why people treat this entry poorly. I thought Rambo 2 was a decent sequel to the first movie.
Rambo is sent on a mission by his well known friend Col. Troutman to search for signs of US POWs in the Vietnamese jungle. (feels familiar to the Metal Gear series, in which I believe this film inspired some elements from. The character of Troutman in particular is modeled for Col. Campbell in Metal Gear 2).
Ok, there's a sudden change of tone in the film compared to First Blood, but some of it remains in there. The locations are broad, music fresh and the way the action's captured is spectacular. Plus, the screenplay is written by James Cameron, director of Aliens and Terminator, who can't complain?
