Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Rebecca S — 08 Dec 2009
Nicolas Cage, an ex con hooks up with a policewoman, Holly Hunter. She is the love of his troublesome life. Their marriage puts an end to his criminal drive but this all changes when it turns out Holly can not have children.
They decide to kidnap a child from a local couple who just had a â??little too much too handleâ?? quintuplet. This was the somewhat boring and not all too funny part of the movie. It gets better when the word is out about the baby and everybody is out to get the kid and or Cage.
The attention towards the â??cute littleâ?? baby is a little lame. So the darn thing can pull his hoody, fantastic. I Liked the part John Goodman played as an escaped convict who seems a bit too intelligent for his part, and also the part of the bounty hunter from Hell, Leonard Smalls, played by Randall â??Texâ?? Cobb.
Itâ??s an okay movie but the humor never gets beyond the constructive â??ha-haâ?? level. The strength of repetition (is it funnier if we scream 6 times, instead of 4?) is not a strength in this movie.
Neither is the over the top absurd (slapstick like) action.
