Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Frances Ann A — 15 Mar 2012
I'm afraid I'll have to agree with Variety Staff and Vincent Canby. This has a similar feel to the TV show, My Name is Earl, except that the TV show is actually funny. The first few minutes were promising, but after awhile, the story and script simply run out of steam.
As it descends into slapstick comedy, we cease to care about the characters. I don't think it's the fault of the actors. All in all, I'd call it a pastiche which doesn't quite add up to a real movie.
