Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by El U — 31 Mar 2013
When first watching Raising Arizona I thought only half of the film was any good. Second time I loved the whole thing. It makes little to no sense and that's what's fun about it, with unorthodox beginnings we are immediately drawn into the life of H.
I. The start of the film plays out much differently then the rest of it, it starts out rather serious and the rest of it is just straight up comedy. With the comforting narration by Nicolas Cage it is a heartfelt little tale and one of Coen Brothers finest that will lead them into bigger and better things.
It has character development and characters go through struggles and the script is magnificent. It also has one of the best chase scenes in history. With a colourful selection of characters, a killer story and great comedy, I easily recommend it.
