Review of Raising Arizona (1987) by Edward W — 07 Jul 2011

It is more than 10 years since I last watch this movie. Didn't like it back then. Now I think it is better than what I remembered. Nicolas Cage is a small time thief who keep getting caught and goes to jail.

He fall in love with a cop Holly Hunter. Finally after he is release for the 3rd time, he propose to Holly and got married. Then they realise she can't give birth, and they are not qualify enough to adopt a baby.

Trey Wilson is a furniture boss who just become father of quintuplets. The couple steal one of his baby. Sam McMurray and Frances McDormand, boss of Nicolas pays a visit. Sam want Nicola to swap wife with him and he got a punch instead.

Nicolas prison friend John Goodman and William Forsythe escape from prison and find him to lay low. Holly doesn't welcome them but willing to compromise let them stay for a day or two. While out shopping, Nicolas couldn't help it and rob the store.

The police arrive and Holly is angry and drove off. That chase involve some dogs and a traumatise truck driver. Holly go back and save him. John and William have a plan to rob a bank and include Nicolas.

He is gonna leave Holly since he isn't good enough father/husband. A bounty hunter Randall 'Tex' Cobb find Trey and demand a reward of $50k instead of $25k for the baby. Trey think he is crazy and ignore him.

Sam know the baby is kidnap and extort Nicolas. John and William heard it and kidnap the baby. When they drive to a store and do a robbery, they forgot the baby is place on top of the car and drive off.

When they realise it, they return to get baby back. Randall went to Nicolas home and saw the bank article. John and William rob the bank, bringing the baby along. And they forgot to take baby again. The paint bomb hidden in money bag explode and clouded their vision.

They nearly crash with Nicolas and Holly. Randall got the baby first when Hooly and Nicolas arrive. She snatch the baby away and Nicolas fight him. He isn't his match and manage to pull out the grenade safety pin, make him explode to bits.

They return the baby. Trey didn't pursue the matter after hearing their story. Nicolas dream that they are old, visit by their children and grand childrens. Very happy family.
