Review of Raise the Titanic (1980) by Harold L — 03 Aug 2009
The filmmakers botched the Clive Cussler bestseller and changed the ending. No, they should have left the historic ocean liner stay where it was in RAISE THE TITANIC. Long, drawn-out, and boring best describes this big budgeted debacle.
The only redeeming element of RAISE THE TITANIC was John Barry's memorable score. Alec Guinness has a moment or two that is deeply felt, but the rest of this epic is just plain soggy! RAISE THE TITANIC is a stinker that sinks.
