Review of Rain Man (1988) by Mikael K — 10 Sep 2010
Dustin Hoffman shines and Tom Cruise annoys in a drama that falls somewhere in the middle on other fronts as well. This is a movie with many great scenes and good moments, but just as many corny and tedious ones. It's an okay viewing experience but left me with a lukewarm feeling.
Ultimately it's the sentimentality that sinks a lot of what â??Rain Manâ?? tries to accomplish. When a movie about family and autism starts to feel like a daytime children's show about cute pets something is not as it should be.
