Review of Rain Man (1988) by Nat G — 14 Oct 2010
I hadn't seen this film in years, and I remember it been quite dull, but this is a really great film. Dustin Hoffman deserves the Oscar he won for this role, he plays the part of an autistic savant brilliantly.
Experts have said this his roll is almost perfect and that it has raised the awareness of autistics. In the last few years I have seen some documentaries about autistic people including one about Stephen Wiltshire, and I can say that this film is true towards the way these people act.
Although Hoffman is great in this film, I do think that he couldn't have been so great if wasn't for Tom Cruise dragging him through the film, Tom does a wonderful job and this is possibly one of his greatest roles his ever done.
I recommended this film highly and I was worried it might be dated, but I was wrong, this is still a glorious film and needs to be scene.
