Review of Rain Man (1988) by Harry W — 17 Aug 2013
This film shows its age. Despite a terrific performance from Dustin Hoffman, this romp quickly turn dull and predictable. Even though the tale is cute, there just isn't enough here to hold interest for 2+ hours.
Tom Cruise's character is pushing on caricature, and Dustin Hoffman's rambling became grating. The "groundbreaking" aspect of the film - the confrontation of autism and the modern world - seems like an anachronism, and what's left isn't worth much.
